Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve encompasses the Laudholm Farm in its 1,600-acre reach. Also a bird sanctuary, the area was chosen because of two rivers adjacent to the farm that flow into the ocean forming estuaries and nesting areas. Visitors can spend the day watching the bird species, walking through the trails and visiting the restored buildings and displays on the property.

Wells Harbor Park contains several public facilities, including a playground, a gazebo and a pavilion. Pits for horseshoes and bocce ball are also on site. Events are often held inside the park, which provides areas, including the pavilion, which can be rented for private parties.
